Boston Lyric Opera's L’elisir d’amore
With music that sparkles and a
playful libretto, this reimagined production of a Donizetti favorite is
charming. Nemorino is mad for Adina, who (of course) doesn’t know he
exists. He’ll do anything: confess, dissemble, enlist—to get Adina to fall
in love with him. If only there were a magic love potion ... Say, what’s

For more than five decades, Carlin, a revolutionary stand-up
comedian on social commentary, has used his razor sharp humor to point out
hypocrisy in people’s actions and words. George Carlin is refreshingly
forthright, making points that few in his audience would ever dare to
think much less express. Carlin is currently touring the country in
preparation for his 14th HBO special, It’s Bad For Ya, which will air live
on March 1, 2008.

Domingo comes to the US with his “Around The World” tour for the first
U.S. concert on Monday, April 14 at the Citi Performing Arts Center – Wang

This is the Maestro’s first ever full concert appearance

repertoire including opera, Zarzuela, musicals and special surprises. He
will be joined by Grammy Award® winner and soprano Ana María Martínez and

The Kids in the Hall is a sketch
comedy group formed in 1984, consisting of comedians Dave Foley, Bruce
McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson. In 1988, the
"Kids" made a pilot episode for a sketch show which was produced by Lorne
Michaels. A series followed--five seasons, in fact, aired from 1989-1994,
and continues on in reruns all around the world. It garnered three Emmy
nominations and was followed by the theatrical cult classic The Kids
in the Hall: Brain Candy (1996) and several
tours.

DROWSY CHAPERONE, the new musical comedy that is swooping into town with
tons of laughs and the most 2006 Tony Awards of any musical on Broadway!
It all begins when a die-hard musical fan plays his favorite cast album, a
1928 smash hit called "The Drowsy Chaperone," and the show magically

Nissinen’s 2004 production of Swan Lake was called “a must-see” by

Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score.
The season concludes with three
celebrated works by three master choreographers: George Balanchine’s
elegant, luminous Concerto Barocco; Antony Tudor’s profoundly
moving Dark Elegies, and Twyla Tharp’s explosive, exciting In
the Upper Room.
Created in 1937, Antony Tudor’s Dark
Elegies, danced to Gustav Mahler’s poignant song cycle
Kindertotenlieder, is a profound and moving exploration of mourning and a
community’s grief in response to tragedy. The themes of the ballet
continue to resonate powerfully today with both dancers and
audiences.

CITI TO PRESENT FREE SHAKESPEARE
- AS YOU LIKE IT IN BOSTON AND SPRINGFIELD
FREE
SHAKESPEARE, a public program of the Citi Performing Arts Center, will
return for an extended run on Boston Common this summer. The popular
midsummer tradition of free Shakespeare under the stars will return to the
Boston Common for three weeks with Citi as the new corporate presenting
sponsor for the program. Directed by Steven Maler, founding artistic
director of Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, As You Like It
will be staged at the Parkman Bandstand on Boston Common July 18 through
August 3, 2008, with two dress rehearsals open to the public on July 16
and 17. Following the Boston run, the production will travel to
Springfield, MA, playing in the Forest Park amphitheatre, August 8 through
10. As well, the 3rd annual Celebrate Shakespeare Day, a program of Citi
Performing Arts Center’s Education Department, will be held on Saturday,
August 2, also at the Parkman Bandstand. Celebrate Shakespeare Day is a
multi-faceted free event featuring workshops, performances, backstage
tours, and lectures for the public to enjoy and learn more about the works
of William Shakespeare.
